The trip home

The kids were not happy about leaving. Even when I tried to get them happy by telling them we were going to go see a really cool cave where bats lived. I think they were scepticall because we thought we were going to see it on the way there, but with all of our delays we didn't make it in time.

We stopped at Cabela's on the way home to buy a sleeping bag. Now we knew how cold it got at night in Montana! We made it in time for the last tour of the cave. There was only one other family and the hike up to the cave wasn't as bad because it wasn't as hot. Inside the cave was a comfortable 50 F. Christine thought it was cold, but the rest of us were fine. The kids liked seeing all the rock formations. They didn't seem to mind when they turned off all the lights and we were in total darkness. Christine liked the pink and purple rocks. Tim liked the decomposing bat and Daniel liked to hear himself talk. I think he liked the echo.

As we left the cave the sun was just setting and it was a beautiful evening!

We stayed the night once again at Lewis and Clark Caverns

campground and this time we all slept much better. Rather than camping one more night like we originally planned we headed home and made it back Saturday evening.
